1. Overview
Gebeyalay is a peer-to-peer marketplace connecting buyers, sellers, service customers, and independent service providers across Ethiopia. By using this platform you agree to these terms.
2. Your Account
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You must provide accurate information when registering. Accounts found to be fraudulent will be removed.
3. Listings
You may only list lawful items you own or are authorized to sell or rent, or lawful services you are qualified and authorized to offer. Prohibited listings include weapons, counterfeit goods, stolen property, and anything illegal or hazardous under Ethiopian law. Gebeyalay reserves the right to remove any listing at its discretion.
4. Transactions
Gebeyalay does not process or hold rental payments or deposits. Rental calendars and date requests are guidance only and do not guarantee a booking. Availability, condition, operator qualifications, pickup and return, damage, deposits, refunds, and disputes must be confirmed directly between users. Sale confirmation tools are provided as a convenience and do not guarantee payment or item condition.
5. Local Services
Local Services are inquiry-only. Customers and independent providers must agree scope, timing, materials, price, payment, and a safe meeting or work location directly and offline. Cultural attire tailoring and repair also requires users to agree garments and materials, fittings, completion date, payment, and exact handoff privately; do not publish measurements, body photos, or home or workshop addresses. Gebeyalay is not an employer, staffing agency, payment intermediary, background-check provider, or guarantor of service quality or customer or provider safety. Sexual services or trafficking, coercion or harassment, discriminatory requests or abusive screening, false credentials, nonpayment or advance-fee scams, and requests involving minors or unsafe child labor are prohibited. Verify details yourself, avoid sharing an exact address until comfortable, and use report, block, or staffed support when conduct appears unsafe or fraudulent.
6. Farm Produce, Livestock & Animal Products
Sellers may list only produce they have the right to sell and are responsible for truthful lot, weight, origin, availability, freshness, and condition descriptions. Those claims are not inspected, tested, or certified by Gebeyalay. Lot dates and marketplace availability do not guarantee food safety, weight, quality, grade, storage, origin, organic status, delivery, off-platform payment, or fitness for use. Payment and handoff remain cash and in person. Buyers must inspect condition, handling, packaging, and safety before payment, code sharing, acceptance, or consumption. Report unsafe, unlawful, prohibited, or misleading listings; they may be removed. Livestock & Live Animals and Animal Products are also separate sale categories. Animal Products includes eggs, dairy products, and meat and poultry products. Sellers are responsible for truthful descriptions of animal condition, origin, health, welfare, and product handling. Gebeyalay does not inspect, test, or certify these claims. Listing availability and checkout or PIN confirmation do not establish animal health, welfare, or food safety. Livestock and Animal Products do not use Farm Produce lot, freshness, or expiry fields.
7. Privacy
We collect your phone number or email address for authentication, and the information you provide in your profile and listings. We do not sell your personal data. Your Telebirr number is only visible to buyers who initiate a purchase of your item.
8. Limitation of Liability
Gebeyalay is provided "as is". We make no warranties about uptime, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gebeyalay is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. Continued use of Gebeyalay after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
